Public Discontent as AARO Director Departs Amid Transparency Concerns

UFO Currents

Deputy Secretary of Defense Kathleen Hicks officially announced the retirement of Dr. Sean Kirkpatrick, Director of the All-Domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO), effective December 2023.

There were concerns that AARO was not fully disclosing information regarding UAPs. Some researchers and activists in the field of ufology argued that there was a significant amount of data, possibly indicating non-human or advanced technology, that was not being released to the public.

Transparency was a key concern. Critics claimed that AARO’s operations were shrouded in secrecy and that its efforts to communicate findings were insufficient. This lack of transparency was seen as a continuation of a longstanding government approach to UAP phenomena, which has often been accused of being more interested in obfuscation than clarity.

Members of the House, particularly those interested in national security and science, expressed frustration over what they perceived as a failure of AARO to provide comprehensive briefings and detailed reports on UAP activity, hindering informed legislative oversight and policy development.
