Deputy Secretary of Defense Kathleen Hicks officially announced the retirement of Dr. Sean Kirkpatrick, Director of the All-Domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO), effective December 2023. Dr. Kirkpatrick concludes a 27-year tenure with the Department of Defense and Intelligence Community, recognized for his integrity and efforts to demystify over 800 UAP cases. He is lauded for his transparency and establishing www.aaro.mil, setting a precedent for openness in the department's approach to UAPs. The Department of Defense, alongside the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, is actively seeking his successor and will make a public announcement upon selection. Dr. Kirkpatrick's dedication to national security is celebrated as he transitions into retirement.

The UAP independent study team is a counsel of 16 community experts across diverse areas on matters relevant to potential methods of study for unidentified anomalous phenomena. NASA commissioned the nine-month study to examine UAP from a scientific perspective and create a roadmap for how to use data and the tools of science to move our understanding of UAP forward.
