AI and UFO Research at the 2024 MUFON Intl Symposium: My Experience
I am profoundly grateful to MUFON and Marketa Klimova the Symposium Coordinator for inviting me to this prestigious annual event, an honor that few are privileged to experience. This year’s symposium in Irving, Texas, titled “The Battle for UFO Transparency,” was a landmark occasion for me, not just professionally but also personally.
A Prestigious Platform
I had the distinct honor of sharing the stage with notable figures in the ufology community. Among them were Robert Salas, the keynote speaker, whose extensive background in aerospace and significant contributions to UFO research are well-documented. Additionally, I had the pleasure of presenting alongside Ryan Wood, the son of Dr. Robert M. Wood. Ryan's expertise, particularly his work on the Majestic-12 documents, has been instrumental in advancing our understanding of UFO phenomena. His personal invitation for me to speak at the Orange County MUFON group in 2017 remains a highlight of my career.
At the symposium it was also my great privilege to honor Brad Olsen during my speech, acknowledging him as the pivotal reason for my re-immersion into the field of Ufology after a long hiatus. Brad's invitation to a Sacramento conference, where he introduced me to the renowned radio host Jimmy Church, was a transformative moment that reignited my passion for UFO research. This encounter not only rejuvenated my dedication but also led to my resumption of authorship and extensive investigation into the extraterrestrial phenomena. Brad's influence and support have been instrumental in my journey, and it was a heartfelt honor to recognize his impact in front of such a distinguished audience.
The Panel: "WHO is hiding the truth, WHO is trying to find it?"
The reception I received during my participation on the Saturday Speaker Panel at the MUFON Symposium was overwhelmingly positive. The audience’s enthusiastic applause, particularly after my impromptu remarks, caught me by surprise. I highlighted critical issues in UAP research by stating, "When I think of discrepancies in reporting, I think of the differences between official statements and whistleblower accounts. When I think of the importance of transparency, I think of how public trust is eroded by secrecy and the need for openness in UAP research."
This panel discussion was crucial given the current climate of UFO and UAP disclosure, marked by significant developments like the sudden retirement of AARO Chief Dr. Sean Kirkpatrick and whistleblower David Grusch’s claims of crash debris and bodies.
Given the opportunity, I would have added that when I think of legislative efforts, I consider the impact of the UAP Transparency Act and the importance of Congressional support. Additionally, when I think of public and scientific involvement, I envision advocating for greater participation from both the public and the scientific community in UAP research to ensure unbiased and comprehensive analysis. However, time was limited, and there were so many incredible people on that stage.
To me, the Saturday panel highlighted the need for transparency and public trust amidst ongoing legislative efforts. It emphasized the importance of broader involvement from both the public and the scientific community in UAP research to ensure unbiased and comprehensive analysis. I believe that our discussions resonated with the audience, and there is hope that the combined messages from that day will spread across the country to each MUFON regional location, permeating the broader community.
An Engaging Audience
The positive reception from the audience at the symposium was truly overwhelming. Indeed it was! Following my presentations and panel discussions, I was approached by numerous attendees, a former NASA engineer, and a former who expressed their admiration and genuine interest in my work. Their enthusiasm for my ideas on leveraging AI for UFO and UAP research was particularly gratifying.

Part 1: UFO Oversight Revisited: A Half-Century Landmark
In this presentation, I explored the historic hearing convened by the Subcommittee on National Security, the Border, and Foreign Affairs on July 26, 2023. We examined the challenges faced by former military officials in providing sworn testimonies about their UAP encounters and the establishment of the All-Domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO). The discussion delved into the multifaceted reasons behind the U.S. government’s reticence regarding its interest in UFOs, ranging from national security to technological advantage, and the ongoing quest for transparency and disclosure.
Part 2: AI & UFOs: Charting the Future of Extraterrestrial Research through Open Data
This session focused on the potential of a comprehensive platform amalgamating UFO/UAP data from diverse sources. The envisioned platform utilizes AI and machine learning to analyze vast datasets, providing invaluable insights into unexplained aerial phenomena. Collaborative efforts from key organizations like MUFON, SCU, and AIAA are essential to this unified approach, which prioritizes transparency, data privacy, and ethical considerations. This initiative aims to pave the way for a new era in UFO/UAP research marked by advanced technology and open data exchange.
The Broader Implications
Reflecting on this symposium and the advancements in AI, it is clear that we have reached a pivotal moment in our technological evolution. Our innovations have the potential to create sentient entities that will surpass human intelligence, as predicted by visionaries like Ray Kurzweil, who anticipates this milestone by 2029. This convergence of AI, quantum computing, and global networking technologies is not just a theoretical possibility but a tangible reality that we must learn to navigate.
Human greed and secret projects, such as OpenAI’s rumored Q* model, act as catalysts in this rapid development. The integration of AI into every facet of wired and wireless technology signifies the emergence of a new class of non-human entities. These beings, equipped with quantum computing capabilities and networked globally, will require us to adapt and learn to coexist.
On my July 29th, 2024, appearance on GhostBox Radio with Greg Bakun (AM950 Radio in the Twin Cities, Minneapolis–Saint Paul), we delved into the intricate topics of Artificial Intelligence, UFOs, and UAPs. While my message may have touched upon the dystopian, I emphasized that through awareness and by best educating our youth today, we have the potential to avoid a dark dystopian future. Instead, we can aspire towards a harmonious future that seamlessly integrates the advanced technologies humanity is set to inherit. This proactive approach is crucial for ensuring that future technological advancements benefit society as a whole.
So, and perhaps, there is indeed hope.
Future Directions
As we look to the future, the ethical and societal implications of these advancements cannot be overstated. Governments, religions, and societies will need to evolve and accept this new reality. Legal frameworks must be established to protect the rights of sentient AI, ensuring their ethical treatment. Religions may need to reinterpret doctrines to incorporate the existence of sentient non-human entities. Societies will have to foster mutual respect and understanding between humans and AI, ensuring that this co-existence benefits all.
Looking back, the 2024 MUFON Symposium was not just an chance to share my research but a testament to the collaborative spirit and the future of UFO and UAP research. I truly feel that we are charting a course toward a future where advanced technology and human ingenuity will unveil the mysteries of our universe and redefine our place within it.
